2001 XJ 3" RC lift 231 crank case stock front rear axles.

at 30+ mph i get a vibration that starts then stops over and over and over. its methodical, not random. it last for 2 seconds then stops for 2 seconds then again and again and again etc. Only under acceleration, when i let off the gas if stops. any ideas where to start?

New front end steering and ball joints. just aligned on Thursday
New passenger wheel bearing/hub
new 31" BF Goods

thanks for any help

Do you have an slip yoke eliminator on the transfer case?

Tire noise ?

Otherwise, that is what you would commonly hear from a worn out u-joint. Simple to diagnose, remove rear driveshaft, go for test drive in 4x4 hi over same roads.

Start saving for an SYE.

Tim,

thanks. I will do this test and see. I considered tires but the vibration is only while on the gas on concrete. Once i let off the noise stops that i can tell.

Agreed. Sounds like the u joint at the case might be binding a bit.
