Does the C4x4 Tapered winch bumper have mounting brackets that reinforce the steering box?

Unless Mike has changed things in the last couple of years, no.
It does have a long plate like the other XJ bumper, but it still only uses the same 4 bolts, the 3 stock bumper bolts plus one farther back along the uniframe. No reinforcement at the steering box.

Will a reinforcement place fit in with the way the bumper mounts?

I think that C_ROK had a link to someone who had done it . You really just need spacers between the bumper brackets at the front. John
