So for those who went I'd like a little info to help me start preparing for next year. I have missed the last two crawls thanks to poor planning on my part financially. So now that the crawl is going to be in the same place budget for the most part should be the same give or take a bit. So give me some feed back on how your budget planning went, where you hit, where you missed, etc. I've made budgets for trips and been way over in my planning (which is a good thing of course) but knowing more from those who have done it never hurts either.

Thanks,
Shrek

I planned for $800. This payed for:

fuel for 2 trucks (wifes Dodge and my XJ)
Groceries for the entire weekend ($80)
Registration (mine was $125)
Raffle tickets ($60)
4 night stay in a cabin (we had some help with this) $75/night
$20 park pass

Now you could do it cheaper if you take one vehicle and camp.

I planned for $150 in gas, $25 for camping, $25 for the ride permit. Enough for a shirt and a bunch of raffle tickets and food. I spent around $300. I also had some money set aside in my account in case i broke something. I spent that at the casino Sunday night! :D I will set more aside this time and chip in on the house with the others that did it this year.

300 in fuel, towing 7 hours
campground money
event money
park access money
food money
t-shirt money

everything else is already packed up in totes with the camping gear.

I planned on being there no matter what the cost.. lol
i took out $100 thinking camping was free and reading somewhere the park was free..
After forking out $25 for primitive camping and $25 for 30 day permit, snacks and drinks.. my $100 cash was gone. I wanted to get more shirts but couldnt find any shirts in my size. no wait. they didnt have any PINK shirts in my size....lol
So roughly $200 spent...

its expensive as you want to make it i USED about 100$ in fuel 80$ to camp, 25$ to ride and an 88$ reg fee for two..... i brought hot dogs and PB&J to eat since i had to blow a lot of my budget on making the jeep run ;) next year im bringing burgers and steaks from work for the weekend and doing a better job packing and planning

I did the same as doug and brought hot dogs and sandwiches to eat, which was very cheap. Brought plenty of waters and gatorades as well as chips and other snack food. Other than food and the required money for camping and permits, I spent about 150 in fuel plus 50 for raffle tickets. All in all about 300-350 dollars for the who trip.

Don't forget the JB Weld. :laugh3:

yeah I forgot about the fuel I put in the MJ. put about $50 in fuel in it, but I siphoned most of that out into the DD when we got home.

Sharing a campsite is the way to go for the cheapness. We had sandwiches on the trail and bacon and eggs for breakfast.

now, the costs to repair the MJ after my Lions Den adventure are a whole nother story.

I know what you mean. The cost of the weekend wasn't too bad but the repair costs add up quick.

I towed 9 hours, shared an RV site with Nate and picked up a year pass to the recreation area.

$250 in diesel
$35 for the permit
$50 to camp 3 nights
$25 in gas for the heep
$50 for food, stuff
$20 in raffle tickets
$60 for crawl registration

$490 for a 4 day weekend, 2 long days of wheeling

Can certainly be done for less, but I've slept and ate in too many lousy places to fry bacon and eggs on the trailer in the morning or camp without water/electricity. I just go to mcdonalds.

i had bought extra belts, oils, coolant and jb weld for the event..
i lended out my 3 quarts of oil, my diff oil, brake fluid and other fluids to Gambit to which he hasnt given them back to me... speaking of which ...lol

Fuel: $250
Cabin: $360
Year pass: $35
Broken parts: $100.00 or so
Food and Drinks: $100.00
Beer and more Food and Drinks: $100.00

I spent about $1K this year. Probably the most I have ever spent. This is also the only vacation I will take this year. Now I'm broke. I will not do that cabin again. I hope they have the bath house done by next year. Our cabin smelled of mildew but other then that was fine. I also hated that is was up the mountain like it was.
