loose/tight steering

Alright I just replaced my steering box, and power steering pump and now my steering is all over the place... if I move the wheel, even slightly the jeep will cut alot harder than it should... I know the alignment is off by around an inch but is this directly related to alignement? Ive been driving alot of different vehicles while my jeep has been out of service but this cant be right... any suggestions?

If you know your alignment is off, and your having steering problems..

where there is smoke, there is fire. Fix your alignment and then try it again..
