Every NWFest pre-event forum has had at least one of these. Since the event itself isn't that far off, I figured I'd start this year's. The question is, what do you have to do to get ready?

I need to:

Get new rear leafs.
Do some final fab work on the exo.
Exhaust manifold.
New front seats.
THOR install.

And I'm sure a bunch else. So...what do you have to do before late June?

Here's mine, not much but time is at a premium for me these days.
Finish front and rear bumpers.
mount winch
finish rear storage shelf/drawers,
Mount co2 tank
buy a trailer
rework the bumpstops.

  1. Install THOR's
  2. Drop belly pan- replace front shaft U joints and tranny fluid
  3. Buy/ Install ACRO steering
  4. Install my new bumper
  5. Install heavy duty trac bar, bracket, brace
  6. Cut front THOR bumper plates to size and install with front bumper
  7. Install backup lights on swing out
  8. Get tube flairs built
  9. Install steering box brace
  10. Get spare axle shafts for front
  11. Rework bumpstops f/r
  12. Build stiffer spring packs for rear
  13. Find some way to organize the rear and mount a couple of fire extinguishers
  14. Rhino line bottom of doors and pull trim
  15. Find a locker or limited slip for my 8.25
I might be a little busy.

Well my list is short(yea, right)
Install clucth master cylinder, headers/exhaust system and the new brakelines I just got, go thru and check/tighten the bolts on the things I just replaced, I.E. EVERYTHING from front grill to back bumper, install the new drive shafts and break in new motor/transmission/transfer and both axles. Then all i need to do is ship it across the pacific to my new house in Oregon and get settled in. Install lockers and recheck everything again.
I "SHOULD" make it to this one.

No, you must build a new XJ that is as good or better on the trail as your YJ. You may begin now.:wave1:

I will be building another XJ, just mild /w 31's or 33's..... but it's definitely NOT in the budget before NWFest.

Realistically...

- Find a full size spare
- Find a way to secure the cargo area
- Swap in a bigger fuel tank (10gal isn't going to cut it)
- Do a coolant flush and burp the system

Perfect World...
- Build a rear bumper and cut the quarters

Nothing to extensive. I should be able to get everything done in time.

1. do something with control arms (long arms or new short arms)
2. Install THOR guards
3. rocker replacement
4. bed line interior of XJ
5. New shocks
6. SYE
7. figure out how to make XJ get 50MPG

probably more that I don't have time for.

1. wire lights in my installed thors
2. install 2low
3. possibly steering
4. make something to organize the rear
5. longer front shocks
6. relocate rear shock mounts flush

dreams
7. bumpers f/r
8. winch
9. cage

I'll just stop now, this could go forever.

sit back and watch and wish

Well what "Pre NWfest to do list" would be complete without me :)

1. 33" Bighorns
2. 5" lift
and some fabbing of odds and ends

I don't NEED to do anything (Like John ;) )
However, Here is my list of expected mods prior to NW Fest for the XJ:
1. Build Rear tube fenders and light guards
2. Install all new Heims in Steering
3. Mount and Install H1 Double Beadlocks
4. New bellypan and Engine/Tranny skids
5. Install 2Low kit
6. Finish building and wire folding light mount for Exo Cage

Other:
1. Install CB in tow rig
