First jeep

My avatar shows me in my first jeep 1955 litter jeep had a flat head motor that had almost the same horsepower as a lawnmower' and a very long wheel base for a jeep . this was on the east german border
and was the best job in the co no room for the officers or sgts to ride and i could sleep on the litter .not on the mud and it had canvas doors for winter ah the old days

think it was stuttgart, or maybe weisbadden (cant recal) but i probably saw that jeep.

they had a yard with over 400 of them, was the disposal yard when they brought in the blazers and hummers

These photos are from 1955 t0 58 i only remember the names of 2 of the guys It's been 54 years or so
we were in a field medical company a mash unit and spent 2 weeks in the field and 2 weeks on the base each month we were required to shave every day no matter what this photo was taken in the winter notice the frost on the windows and we would use our helmets to wash then shave with the same water and it was cold
the litter jeep best job in the company interior was 6 1/2 feet long from the windshield to the back window and it could carry 2 patients inside and 2 on the hood and as there was onlt one seat the officers or sgts never rode with me which was good
some of the guys on the patrol 2 of them are litter bearers not medics and this is a dodge cracker box ww2 ambulance 80 hp flathead indestructeble

a opel ambulance and in the background a opel kadett wagon and the bld was our small dispensary and 8 bed hosp the last photo was sat as we could wear civilian clothes on weekends if off duty this was before 5:30pm after that time we were required to wear a jacket and tie no blue jeans this was the occupation army and was really strick

good to see you are still out and about. retired or still working? know a couple people in my family that if they quit working (theyre close to your age) they wouldnt do so hot

Retired from the navy in 1976 then from work in 2002 spent 3 years in the army 19in the navy 22 years working as a ibew member

Jim has underwear older than most of us................

but it is washed often

Is that YOU shaving Jim? Or are you in any of those pics? I can't see any resemblance in any of 'em..... :dunno:

I was thinking it was me in the jeep mostly cause i was the driver of it and we only had two of them one stayed in the field at all times but now that i look at it i was much better looking then and i get better with age

I still think you make a good poster child for aging. Now LED won't have to worry so much about getting up.
