Racing against the grain

Got a little further on the front bumps. What you see here is the final version of how the bump is held and how the coil is retained. The bracket you see will be on the inside of the engine bay. We are running out of time to design a proper bracket to be laser cut out, so we're sorta making it up as we go with what we have.

Way too much lol. ~$1250 bumps included. I'd guess only super serious jeepspeed people would buy these, the rest would probably make their own if they were up to it.

I think I need to adjust fire on the picture sizes. I'm using tapatalk for the first time in forever and I guess full size is big?

Yea IDK the MJ needs these but it will need the ACOS.......
I hate taptalk.... just a little too big.

These bad larrys adjust your ride height too, if thats why you are wanting out of the ACOS. I think we could cut cost down on them if we found a way to run a regular bump, The King Air bumps alone make up half of the cost.... lastara

Yes I know. I was thinking sway away or anything cheaper than king.... I told a certain someone this but I doubt the mad man remembers........

lol King are the only ones that fully thread their bump. But a non threaded version with a set screw or whatever doesn't seem impossible.

Those bump stops are coming out sweet.

But yes, justifying that price tag to the Committee of Ways and Means is going to be tricky.

From my experience with the committee embezzlement is the only way to go.

I have been caught too many times.

Call it one of the downsides of being married to a corporate financial analyst.

:looney:

Best part of the divorce. NO Committee! I am waiting to see how they attach. I really do not want Glenn to cut up the MJ. We need ACOS and that track bar steering system Ironman4x4 makes. That thing is the shit!

Yesterday was mock up day one. I'm dialing in where I need to mount everything to get the proper alignment of the air bump in the coil. This was a little too far forward with a little bit too much angle on the coil bucket. Created a bow I'm not comfortable with. This was at 3/4 full compression. Today I'll make adjustments and go from there.

Ding fries are done. Finally got the coil straight. That's enough for today. Measurements and passenger side tomorrow.

Got her on all 4 and started her up for the first time in months and she moved! The motor was so responsive and quiet with this like new harness. I think that is where a lot of my anomalies came from. This thing is solid. Moved her in the shop to burn the air bump mounts and work on sway bar mounts etc. small things are left. Might actually make it by the deadline.

Got a lot of stuff done this weekend with 2 weeks until departure home then the Crawl in Harlan.

Radio relocated, all lockers and fan switches wired and Rubi compressor mounted. Air bump mounts welded in. Just needs reinforcing.

Majority of the rest should get done this week.

Fantastic timing! Rubi locker won't work. Actuator Diaphragm is blown out.

7 days before departure and I'm ripping my diff out to replace a part that I somehow found in Rockauto. Let's hope it all gets here in time...

Sitting down drinking beer in anticipation...amongst all the other work that has to be done.
