Please set this weekend aside. Details will follow.

2N49 on Sat.
2N04 on Sunday if anyone decides to camp.

There has been some runoff damage from the recent rains; 4x4 recommended.

Meeting location for Sat is the 2N49 trailhead at the east end of Palm Ave in San Bernardino; 9:30am

2N04 was pretty clean when we ran it the day before yesterday. I didn't see anything that requires any attention.

Yes 2N04 was pretty clean there was one lonely fire ring where it connects with
2N01. Other than that there was a few beer bottles and Mylar balloons. The creek however has run a bit wider due to the rain but I don’t see any point in working on it until after this weather dries up. I was going to post a thread last night about it but my phone has taken a crap and I won’t be able to access the photos until a replacement shows up tomorrow.

There is an area right near the end of the trail where people have burned in a bypass around what is often a muddy section. It may require T posts and wire.

Can we get some hedgers from the Volunteer center to clear some of the brush on the trail? I feel that with all the recent rain it's going to be pretty brushed in.

You don't happen to live near Sequoia, do you? Edison trimmed a lot back on the main trail...but as you know there are some spots that need a couple feet lopped off.

I'll probably be in the XJ. There's a couple washed out spots that I know for certain the MJ won't do.

Gas powered hedge trimmers and the container of gas oil mix. Also a couple loppers.

I plan to go Sat only.

I just want to say thank you to Charles, Rick and Mark for helping clean up the trash left by filthy animals and to get some brush cut back on the trail.

The first few miles of trail had been washed out from the recent rains. A lot of the culverts have washed away and there are a few mud slide spots. Also it appears that SBNF has ran a dozer up the first mile or so. We picked up your typical beer bottles and boxes and a few tires before we discovered the couch and loveseat. We had filled the back of Marks Dodge.

Once we made up to the spur with the gate on it we busted out the hedge trimmers and lopers and got to work. As some of you might know BlurpleXJ got into a pickle back in September last year. We managed to get the gate opened back up to the TPost it's is supposed to be tied open to. After a brief lunch break we continued up the trail to check for more trash.

That's when we came across a downed tree and a group of wheelers who where coming up from running cleghorn. They had tried to winch it to no avail. Marks Dodge tried to yank it and then Charles gave it a go with his winch and a snatch block. Snapped his winch line so Mark attempted to pull it again with the Dodge and a snatch strap. It only moved a few feet before we gave up. It's gonna need to be saw cut and then cleared. It's just after the intersection with 2N45.

We headed back down and loaded up the couches from earlier before leaving the trail.

That poor Dodge. And to think it had been so lovingly cared for by its previous owner.

Great job guys. I appreciate all the work being done.

The morning started out overcast and foggy, which was nice as we weren't getting beaten up by the sun.

Not even a 1/3rd of the way into the trail we already had 3 bags of trash, 3 tires, a laundry basket and a bunch of other trash.

When we were recovering the couches we found this little guy, as I later found out, he's a "California Vole."
