Sorry for waiting so long been busy with other shit. I purchased this kit because the price was unbeatable...

The saying goes you Get what you paid for, But ive never had a problem with anything RC.. i have the 4.5in Lift kit and Shea has there springs so i thought why not and save some cash and go for these.

Jason helped me out and made the transaction for these super easy and got them in like 3 days after ordering...

fast forward 2 weeks...

Today Me, Shea454 (shea), Baseballneal86 (Neal), Danman2k06 (Dan) and Monk686( Mike-O) along with other friends decided to do the install.

We have only done one other long arm on Shea's jeep and his are the Rock Krawler ones.. (ill tell you now that the RC long arms were SOO much easier).

The install took about 5 hour's including lunch and bullshitting and whatnot. The difficulty meter for the install would be a 7. You def need some experience and The right tools.

We only found 1 flaw with the kit.... which we will address in the pictures.

sooooo....... :party::spam::doh::wow::us::worship:

one snowy day in Gathersburg, MD..

Wanted to install his Rough country long arm kit that he had purchased. (painted the arms with flat black spray paint and i sprayed the crossmember and skid with rubberized undercoat. (had 1 can of each dont really care. just didnt like that stupid grey color.)
Threw the Piece of shit into the air and got to work.

Then we Mocked up the Crossmember, and the side plate frame reinforcement and punched the holes and drlled them. the instructions say to use 25/64 drill bit. (we used a step bit and drilled till the sleeve fit and stuff.)

*NOTE* THe rear bolt Goes all the way through. The bolt closest to the front DOES NOT.

install the Flag nut/anchor nut into the frame from the hole.

Now that all the Control arms were off the car, tims to start grindin away at the old brackets. Sawzall or cutting wheel works.. (i prefered the sawzall for big cuts and grindin the small stuff with the wheel.

Drilling holes for the Transfer case skid. Both the Skid and the crossmember were very nicely made and Very stout.
The kit comes with 2 14mm self tapping bolts for the frame side. You need to drll out a 21/64 drill bit for the self tappers.

Now this was SUPER annoying and i think RC could have done a better job at making this bolt accessible. get a couple threads turned in the inner bolt, and you can throw you 14mm gear wrench in there and tighten it. but it is annoying to fandangle that bolt with the transfer case being 1 inch from the skid on that side.

now on for the only flaw we found in this Long arm upgrade.

The crossmember is not knotched out enough to clear the hanger on the exhaust that goes into the crossmember. you need to knotch out the hanger so the exhaust will reach the header.

The free membership offer stipulated some flex and a video....get to it.

Thanks for the write-up. I got a Q about the cross member bolts. The factory uses two but RC adds a 3rd in front of the factory holes. Is there a nut in the frame for that one or is a self-tapper?

So what's your road performance report? good? bad? bouncy?

there is a 3rd nut already there for you, the ride is awsome.

its a combination of the long arms, bilstein shocks, and no swaybar....shin and i can go over big speed bumps at 15mph and not feel a thing in the front end. i have the Rock Krawler long arms.

the RC 4.5 coils are stiff enough to run no swaybar.

Wear safety glasses.

You know I was wearing a shirt just like that when I was using an angle grinder... then cut my arm with, down to the muscle. But I WAS wearing safety glasses.

No I never when to UTI, nor have had one.

But nice write up and yes, flex shots would be nice.

I heard the the coils are 10 lbs heavier than stock to compensate for lean at that height.

I can't wait till I get mine on. :)

i never went to uti either.

anyways, ill try to get flex shots up but i work 6 days a week 8-6 and really have no time to do much, hence why it took me 2 weekends to install....

So far the ride quality is night and day compared to the short arms and there are no problems with these so far.

all in all i can proudly recommend these to anyone and be confident..
if you want a long arm kit but dont want to spend a grand, these are perfect! it just dumped 5 inches of snow here so when the snow is gone, ill let u guys know how it is off road. and how it flex's...
