Where to stay between Rubicon and Hermit Valley

For those who are planning on attending both portions of this event (Rubicon and Hermit Valley), many of us are booking rooms at the Motel 6 in South Lake Tahoe. This would be for one night on Wednesday August 9th.

(In the past we stayed at the Super 8 but it looks like it might be closed now).

Guys, is there somewhere to leave an rv during the rubicon trip and are there any specifics needed for the rubicon, non jeep related?

Unless you're okay with paying the outrageous casino room rates, using their parking has been kinda dicey for me in the past. Seems like most are clamping down and want you to pay the full room rate for each day of parking which can be several hundred $. If you do park in one of the casinos be sure to leave your RV and contact info with their security desk. If you’re lucky they won’t ask for a room number.

If casino parking doesn't work out for you, you might try StorWise Storage on Kingsbury Grade. They quoted me $30 for 4 days of storage. They are not security patrolled 24/7 (like the big casinos are) but they are there during the day. They said they have RV's and boats stored there and security hasn't been a problem, for whatever that's worth. I've never used them, but they might be a good backup if you can't find secure parking elsewhere.

Let me know what you end up doing.

I might just keep my stuff at the Ice house and go back around when we finish the trail. That storwise might be another option. I will be leaving Friday night and hopefully getting up there on Saturday sometime. I will have a day to see if there are other options.

I would say yes on the wag bags and trail toilet. I've heard reports of the outhouses being full. Not sure if they've been pumped out yet.

I think I took the final poo at the one at buck island right where we usually camp.

It's most definitely been cleaned and emptied with the jamboree. This was close to a month ago now
