Several broken rigs on the trail...this one with a broken trackbar bracket at the frame.
Ran across the Camo Jeeps again due to the broken rig blocking the trail.
With Tim’s encouragement, Alan getting head deep and putting his Ready Welder to work on a Polaris with a broken tie rod at Buck Island. Polaris didn’t get very far after the fix and the guy and his g-friend ended up hiking back out to Loon.
At the same time, Ryan was busy fixing a broken center pin on his leafs. After getting ¾ of the way done with the left side, he realized the right side was also broken. Lou scrounged up a couple of grade 8 bolts and luckily Ryan had a big enough wrench to get the job done!
Here’s the big ass wrench...for reference, my shoe size in the pic is 11½.
Ryan looking way too happy to be broke on the trail.
Under way again, leaving Buck Island.

We ended up camping at the far end of Rubicon Springs, the section where you have to make a water crossing to get to it.
Alan and Blondejon prepping for dinner.
And yet another reason you gotta make Sierra Fest....Blondejon’s Dutch oven corn bread! I can only hope he’ll make this a tradition!
I just had dinner and this pic makes me hungry again.
Small pools and waterfalls near the campsite.
John/Twinhauler making the water crossing leaving Rubicon Springs.
John/Twinhauler starting the climb up Cadillac Hill.
Looking down the switchback after the first big turn on Cadillac. Can you spot the rig in the center?
We didn’t get very far up Cadillac until we ran into this guy from Oregon with broken front and rear axles. He was with his kid and another rig and ended up winching up most of the hill.
I think this is his buddies trailer that he unhitched to help out with the recovery effort.

Obligatory group shot at Observation Point.
Pretty sure Rubicon Springs is at the center of this pic, as seen from Observation Point.
We’re at Deer Valley now...we did a night run on the trail out of the campground and this log jumped out at me…
...and cracked the fiberglass front clip.
Top of the peak on Deer Valley, couldn’t have asked for better weather.
Deer Valley poser shot before the first water crossing.
Lou making the water crossing.
