SoCal Fest****GENERAL INFORMATION**** April 27 - 29, 2018, Calico,

Bent

NAXJA Member
SoCal Fest is at Calico this time around; April 27 - 29, 2018

Lodging and Camping:

Bunkhouse:
The chapter has the bunkhouse reserved 4/27 and 4/28. It will accommodate 20 persons maximum. Reservations can be made through the chapter store for $12 per night per person. First come, first serve.

There are bathrooms inside (there are showers nearby in the regular campground), a small fridge, and it has heat and A/C. There's a BBQ grill & fire ring outside. Linens are NOT provided - bring your own sleeping bag or blankets and pillow.

There's room for 8-12 cars, and probably 2-3 trailers, and I think there are other spots to park nearby. Park outside chain link "yard area" only; no driving through the "yard", it annoys the rangers. NO RV parking near the building, per the rangers.

Campsites:
Campsites are available through the San Bernardino Parks website. The rate is $30 per site, per night.
For campsites it is recommended that we choose section "O", the lower ohv sites; ,not the upper quiet area to stay together. If trailers come in attached to a vehicle the combo is considered one vehicle. Contrary to what is posted on the County site they have a new rate sheet that says a 2nd vehicle is now allowed at no charge.

Cabins:
There are a limited number of cabins that may be available for $65/night. They sleep 4, have heat and A/C but there are no bathrooms. Linens are NOT provided - bring your own sleeping bag or blankets and pillow.
Cabin reservations may only be made by calling Calico Ghost Town directly at (800) 86-CALICO

Friday Dinner:
Please do continue to order dinners, raffle tickets, and bunkhouse lodging!

Looks like food will be 1/3lb burgers, jumbo hot dogs, french fries, potato salad, green salad, and chicken nuggets for the kids...

Carol will be monitoring sales and buying the food Thurs night before heading out Friday morning, and she should have access to the SoCal Store info on her phone while we're up there, as well.

See you all in a few days!

The bathrooms are not private, or internal to the cabins. They are very standard camping cabins. The restrooms with showers are a 50 ft walk.

Re: SoCal Fest April 27 - 29, 2018, Calico, CA

Reserved a full hook-up site for our RV with the XJ in flat tow. See ya'll there!!

Re: SoCal Fest April 27 - 29, 2018, Calico, CA

So are we to reserve in the A/B area or the O area by cabins?

FYI the bunkhouse isn't pictured in the original map listed here. That's the mini bunk house. I circled the bunk house in red and the cabins in blue.

Section "O" by the cabins. I've added a new map.

You can reserve cabins online.

I just went by what the lady at the county said.

:flamemad:

Now you go and change it. After I have made my reservation up in the first area.

Just an observation, but all the sites in 'O' loop are full hookup only.
I think you are talking about the loop that looks line an "O", probably correct.
OHV area, where all of us stayed last time, is the lower area marked in red, which is called "O", for OHV area.

**Just looked, and it says that they are full hookup, probably where the cost jump is. But can still setup a tent. Will be nice to have power though.

Would Varmints count as pets?

I might need a cabin.
