New pos

Hell yeah! I think on of these on tons, 40's, with an 8.1 vortec and 6l80 would be an awesome mountian rig!

haha yeah this thing is going to stay a budget camping rig. maybe down the road some cheap one tons since it would pretty easy to just weld up some perches and shock mount, but then you need 8 lug rims, 37s, etc and it would totally snow ball from there.

For now:
I am going to wait until I can find some used front lift leaves for cheap for the front
I have to replace a return line vent on the top of the tank that is leaking good,
go through front wheel bearings ,
Swap out calipers, pads,
longer brake lines,
wrap the fuel lines in the engine bay for good measure
Swap out the drag link TREs next.

Ive already done a ton of work to it, thats the last stuff on the list before I do the wood vinyl wood.

Thanks for the tires dude !!

Wheel bearings were loose but looked fine.inner and outer jam nuts were finger tight. Repacked them tonight. Swapped in one new wheel stud, new calipers, 87 blazer front brake lines, new wagner severe duty pads, and two new tie rod ends on the drag link and greased the others. Should fix up some of the slop that i had in the front end . Ball joints and tie rod were fine

Shocks are blown out.

Drove it. Got the front lift done. J10 bastard packs. Lous old rear shocks ended up on the waggy front. Lettermans old tj rears ended up on the rear . Drives so mich better. Has some wonder play . Need to check caster and the steering box.

Lookin good Jon!! I say Rat Rod that sucker. Sand all the loose stuff down and shoot it with a rustolium type clear coat. Let it wear it’s age with pride!!

Not a bad idea ... also the easiest way to go

It drives so much better on the freeway now.
Added some 4* Caster shims, new front leaf bushings, and aired front tires from 37 down to 28.
Doesnt feel like it will kill me meow.

I also installed a new alternator, headlight switch, starter solenoid, new alternator wiring , rewired the alternator wiring to go to the starter solenoid and not into the dash through the ammeter , (ammeter bypass in the dash, much safer now) , rewired the cigarette lighter so it works, and have a spare all aluminum water pump sitting here now too.

It also got a brand severe duty fan clutch and a new doorman fan blade to replace the old solid fan and spacer.

Next is to redo all the headlight wiring and a new headlight, rear brake adjustments, swap in a XJ intermediate steering shaft from the firewall to the steering box, and replace a fuel vent valve on top of the gas tank and a new longer rear brake line from a j20.

Just slapped a new fan shroud on the waggy and picked up a Yukon zip locker and compressor from Parts Mike in Auburn. going to be Deleting the CAD and removing a bunch of vacuum lines and installing some chromoly shafts as well. All in the front lp44.

When does the wood grain go back on???

No more wood grain, that stuff is 595$ for the wood grain and 1000$ for the 2" trim that goes around it. No budget for that . ON the other hand, I am in the middle of installing a Air locker and chromos, that helps alot more than wood grain.
