Which driveshaft

cardboard

NAXJA Forum User
I just scored a dana 44 rear at the pnp from a bone stock 87 (no lift,no big tires, nowheelin action what so ever). My question is ,which driveshaft do i need to use.
By the way, 90cherokee 4.0,auto,242 transfercase.

The nose of the D44 is about an inch longer than the standard D35. That means that if your driveshaft should be about an inch shorter if it is the correct length as it sits. If you are running a lift, many times that is a help, but since you state it is bone stock, I would get under there and see just how much slip yoke travel you have. You can normally see where the driveshaft has been working and how much it has hit historically by looking at the wear patterns. Beware of a shaft that is too long. If you hit a bump you can destroy a transfer case.
