New guy from PDX.

Hey all, new guy here from PDX (Cornelius to be exact.) I moved here about 4 years ago and after about 6 months or so I bought a car for commuting and whatnot. It turns out my then girlfriend's (now wife) commute was longer so she ended up with my brand new car and I inherited a '95 Cherokee Country. I can't complain though I grew up driving suv's and only bought a car for gas mileage and didn't have much to carry around. It's in pretty good condition, the only thing to go wrong engine wise in the 3-4 years I've been driving it is the alternator. There's definitely some things that need repaired though. I'm not much of a car guy but I know it's a 4.0l and I believe inline 6. We're sitting at just over 135k miles. I plan on doing some stuff to it but nothing major all the little stuff needs to be fixed first.

You can see the trim on the bottom starting to peel off. Debating on just taking it off not sure yet. None of the lights line up, the 1 headlight faces upward and one of the ground light faces down. Easy fixes I've just kind of dealt with it. Also you can see where I broke the bumper corner piece from hitting a pole pulling in to work.

Here she is in all her glory. I've only seen 1 other gold Country ever. We plan on getting a roof basket to free up some space in the back from the spare.

You can't really see it but there's no lock on the passenger side door, just a bolt that was put in to prevent the door being able to be opened with a butterknife or the likes. All the other locks are starting to go also. The drivers side lock needs to have the key turned back and forth with a little bit of pressure before it finally unlocks and hitting the unlock button doesn't always unlock the other doors. You can hear the mechanisms try to work but they just don't fully unlock. Also if you look at the bottom of the passenger door you can see where the lower corner was bent. A friend was rather intoxicated and thought he could break in by bending the door out (he left his backpack in there and didn't think to ask for the keys.) To the right is the sad reminace of Portland's Snowpocalypse 2015.

That's an engine! And that about sums up my knowledge under the hood. Looks like an inline 6 which has more power? I don't know i'm sure some of you can set me straight on that.

This is the drivers side door seal. Apparently while going down the highway the door just fell off. From what I'm told it was welding back on improperly making a 1/4" gap between the door and the seal. Not sure how to go about fixing that one.

Well there ya go!

Welcome! You've come to the right place. There's a great local community here in the Portland area and the forums here at NAXJA are probably the biggest wealth of knowledge anywhere for the XJ Cherokee.

Check all your electrical connections including grounds. Clean even if not necessary and maybe some of your electrical gremlins might clear up. The parts could be getting tired as well.

I've been away from the forum for a while, no particular reason why. Here's an update.

Here's where we started. Stock 95 Country.

With the help of Little Caesars we got some painting done.

My mechanic put in a new RC 3.5" full leaf, short arm lift. Mom was not happy with this picture.

That's where we are now. Replaced some odds and ends, new radio, all new brakes, some more I don't remember. There's some immediate things I'm going to do and then some far off eventual projects.

Right away:
New Adjustable track bar (on its way)
New steering stabalizer (on its way)
ZJ tie rod with ends (in the garage waiting for the other stuff)
31x10.5x15 BFG KO2s (probably Friday or next week.)
Full fluid change, everything. I've only changed the oil and far as I know nothing else has been touched.

Eventual:
Napier flat flares
New tm5 wheels
Smittybilt rear bumper with tire carrier
JCR diy front bumper
Assorted lights n whatnot

That's all I can think of right now.

Nice job Matt. That 95 is looking good with the lift and black trim. If you need a hand, I'm next door in Hillsboro.

Thanks! And thanks for the offer. I'm actually a lot closer (Cornelius, but PDX sounds cooler.) Some things are changing, leaving work to go back to school so jeep upgrades are going to have to wait. I have 31x10.5x15 ko2s on the way. That will at least get me to be able to do light wheeling. I'll have to get parts slowly but surely.

Next up is figure out why I'm pulling si hard to the right. I just replaced the tire rod, new tre and stabalizer. I'm going to check the brakes to make sure it's not grabbing, wheel bearings and ball joints.

Got some new shoes, 31x10.5x15.They rub a little on the very bottom of the flares so I'll need to trim those up.

The next purchases will be sway bar discos front and rear bumpers. Not sure when the bumpers will be.... Eventually.

Damn, I haven't posted here in almost a year. I really haven't done much to the jeep in that time. I started on some sway bar discos. Just have to bend the bar for the brackets, clean it up and paint it.
