hello naxja, my first posting here !

I did a axle swap to D44 front and rear to my XJ, now braking power is okay, but nevertheless I want to improve it.

After I read this article : http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/brakes/xj_wjbrakes03/index.htm

I have buyed me a brake booster and master cylinder from a 97 Grand, I think this is ZJ and not WJ.

A picture of the booster :http://www.msctec.de/xj/pics/f3_1.jpg

Has any one of you done a swap of a ZJ booster in his XJ ? Is it possible as easy as the WJ booster swap or later 96 XJ booster swap ?
Thanks !

I swaped in a '97 ZJ booster into my '88 with no problems. If you leave out the alum. spacer the rod is almost the correct length and it fits better with the older style windshield washer bottle, you don't have to move it very far foward. I cut off the old pedal to rod attachment and welded it to the '97 booster rod. I wrapped the rod in wet towles and welded a little at a time with a wire feed to control the heat. Works good and the pedal is the correct height. The toughest part is flaring the tubing and getting it to fit correctly. Check out the tech article at MADXJ http://www.madxj.com/ this is the one I used for most of my booster swap. Good Luck.

I did a 96 XJ booster/mc into a 91 - direct swap other than the custom bent hard lines - I think the pedal rod on the 97 is longer though, so you will either need to use your old rod in the new booster, or somehow modify the rod on the new booster - I have a good 91 single diaphram booster I'd let go cheap if you need parts for the swap and your rig is a DD - PM me if interested.
