Brake Booster? Wifes car, Help.

BrokenXJ

My wife has a 2000 Grand Cherokee, and the brakes were a little soft. The car has 70K, so I thought I would replace the Master cylinder and save myself some money.

When I disconnected the MC I heard a hissing release of pressure. I re-installed the new MC, and could not get the brakes to bleed? THe brake light is on, and I heard a air hissing from inside the car when appling the brakes. Thier is absolutely no brakes!

Is the brake booster gone?

Sounds as if the booster is gone, but before giving up hope you might want to take the MC off again and see if the seal between the booster and the MC somehow was either omitted or damaged. There should be an O-ring or something of the sort between the body of the MC and the booster, and the usual recommendation is to use a new one any time you replace the MC.
